When it comes to planning modules, one can either implement a track plan from a prototype and apply some
selective compression or like I did. Make something up.
In the process of creating trackplans, I got great help and a lot of inspiration from the following books:
There's a plethora of module standards. In Sweden the most common standard is the one used by MMM,
MälarModulMöten. Others include Fremo, Fremo-US, etc.
A few module standards
Most of my early modules were built using MMM-Märklin but with 2R (DCC) capabilities.
All my modules can be used as either 2-rail (dc/dcc) or 3-rail (Märklin)
and have been built using a variety of techniques:
My newer modules will all follow the Fremo standards with F96-profile.
- Isolated c-track
- Peco code 83 track with Herbert Herei studs (punktkontaktband)
- Hand laid track with home made studs
Apart from Modelrailroader magazine, a few Kalmbach books, and a lot of MRR-forums,
Pelle Søborg's awesome Donner River and Daneville has inspired me alot.
My first modules, the Donner Pass modules, the Bridge
and the Flexible 180, are a result of him inspiring me.
Here are a few links to great sites that features modules:
